Samsung announces Galaxy S3 mini

Samsung has just announced a 4-inch version of the Galaxy S3 called the Galaxy S3 mini. While most hoped for all the goodness of an S3 in a smaller package, the specs were also cut down too.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 mini which ships with android 4.1 and the Touchwiz nature UI skin just like it’s “big brother. It packs a dual core 1Ghz processor, a 1,500mAh battery, 1Gb RAM, and a 4-inch super AMOLED screen (400 x 800 resolution). It also spots a 5mp camera at the back and a VGA front-facing camera and will come in 8Gb and 32Gb both expandable by another 32Gb via sd card.

On the connectivity side of things it packs the usual…WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n), GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0 (LE), NFC, and HSPA 900/1900/2100 networks along with EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. There’s no word if there will be other variants for other non-listed network bands.

Specs considered, it does seem like a mid-range phone that is set to ride on the Galaxy S3’s looks and success.
