Wasn’t too long ago I predicted that people would be holding tablets to their faces to make calls. The Asus FonePad is a realization of that prediction and there’s bound to be more like it to come. But for now..
The Asus FonePad is a 7-inch tablet sporting an Intel’s Atom Z2420 processor with 3G voice and mobile data support. It runs on 1GB RAM and sports a 1280 x 800 display. It also has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and a 3-megapixel back camera. It will come in 8GB and 16GB variations with SD card slot for expandable memory. Battery is rumored to be up to 9hours and will come in titanium gray or champagne gold color palettes.
Asus also unveiled a phablet at Mobile Web Congress 2013. The Padfone Infinity is a 5-incher 1080p phone. It also has LTE connectivity, 64GB of storage, 13 mega-pixel camera and a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor. That makes this a beast of a phone and compares it to the current crop of 5inch 1080p phones that have been popping up lately. The phone also docks into a 10 inch 1080p tablet attachment called the Infinity Station which essentially turns the phone into a tablet. Coolness all around. I’m rooting for Asus to make the next Nexus device because they always knock things out of the park.
