Asus have come a long way ever since the release of the first Zenfone series (Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5, and Zenfone 6) which was a huge success, and this year they further cemented their stay in the smartphone market by being the first manufacturer to announce the world’s first 4GB RAM phone.,
It is 5 months since the release of the Zenfone 2 and several other phones have been released by other manufacturers but the Zenfone 2 still remains the most affordable and future proof phone out there. So if you have been thinking of what phone to settle for this year, you’ll want to read my reasons for choosing the Zenfone 2.
- Price: The Zenfone 2 has two 4GB variants: a 32GB ROM version with a 64 bit Intel Z3560 quad core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and a 64GB ROM version with an Intel Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3GHz. Both cost $250 and $299 respectively. Resellers in Nigeria will want to sell for about 60k and 75k for each model. For a 4GB RAM phone, that’s still a very fair price. There is no phone in the market right now with such specs and price.
- Support: Apart from Motorola and Nexus devices, Asus is the only other company that I know releases regular updates for its devices. During my use of the Zenfone 5, I can remember updating it no fewer than 8 times, of which 2 were major OS upgrades (jelly bean to kitkat, and kitkat to lollipop). Apart from system updates, their apps get frequently updated through the play store. I can remember bragging to my friend who used the Huawei Honor 3C if his manufacturer ever released an update for the flashlight app on his phone. Asus did that. So I’ll bet that the Zenfone 2 will be getting updated to Android M, and probably Android N.
- Better than competition (specs and price): The Asus Zenfone 2 has quick charge function (0 to 60% in 40 minutes), NFC, Full HD display with gorilla glass 3, dual SIM support, a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing camera, a micro SD card slot even with the large memory (32GB or 64GB), 4GB of RAM, and a price range no greater than $300. No other manufacturer currently offers these specs at this price. None whatsoever!!!
I believe you agree with me now that the Asus Zenfone 2 is the most affordable and future-proof phone in existence. It’s a petty that we don’t see a lot more of them in these parts, probably due to how difficult it is to get one to this part of the world. If you are interested in getting one though? Leave a comment and I’ll do my best to hook you up.
