AG Mobile (formerly known as AG Cellular), one of Africa’s leading Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) has launched four new devices in Ngeria at a media briefing event which held on the 3rd of February, 2016 at the Leadway Hotel, Maryland, Lagos.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Head of Marketing (Global), AG Mobile, Ms. Tayshira Santamaria familiarized members of the press and other distinguished guests with AG Mobile’s history as well as landmark devices it had launched previously, being the first South African brand to release its own device in 2007. Nigeria is the ninth African country where AG Mobile phones and tablets are available, and the first where it has launched independently of a retail partner.
According to AG Mobile CEO, Anthony Goodman this development forms part of the brand’s expansion strategy to provide more Africans with affordable, quality products while investing in markets that offer mutually beneficial opportunities. “As a proudly African brand, we believe that we will bring great value to Nigeria. We’ve started by building relationships with well-respected brands such as MTN, Etisalat, Ringo and Jumia, creating employment opportunities, and supporting the networks’ objectives to advance Nigeria’s connectivity from 2G to 3G.”
The four phones unveiled include the current flagship device, the AG Ghost, a dual-SIM 5.5-inch device with HD display, 16GB internal memory and 2GB RAM run by a 1.3GHz processor. Others are the Style, its 5.0-inch sibling, as well as the Boost which comes in at 4.0 inches and the Zoom equipped with a 3.5 inch display. All the phones launched are powered with MediaTek processors.
In a Question & Answer session , Ms. Santamaria shed more light on why AG Mobile chose the “Ghost” designation for their flagship (because it never dies) as well as answered questions regarding sales and service support. Also on hand were Mr Craig Herr, Sales & Product Manager, AG Mobile and Mr Bonus Obieze, Chief Executive Officer, Ringo Communications Ltd.
The AG Mobile devices are available in 40 sales outlets nationwide handled by Ringo Communications and there will be smart-tables set up in every one of them where customers can experience them firsthand.
