Huawei Technologies, one of the largest telecommunications and mobile manufacturing companies in the world, last week held hosted several tech writers to its Tech Bloggers Roundtable at the Cosmopolitan Mall, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event also served as an opportunity to unveil the company’s new mid-range phone, the G-Power (also known as the Y6Pro) which will go on sale this week.
The G-Power is an 8.5mm thin smartphone with a 5-inch HD IPS display powered by a 64-bit quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor which packs 2GB RAM as well as 16GB storage inside. All this is run by a 4000 mAh Li-Polymer battery which Huawei has rated for 39 hours of phone calls, 15 hours of browsing or 113 hours of music. It also has nifty features like fast-charging technology (10 minutes charge gives you 3 hours of talk-time) as well as Reverse Charging which lets you charge another device with the G-Power.
The camera features were also demonstrated to show the power of its 13MP rear camera as well as the 5MP front-facing one and its various photography modes.
Bloggers also got a sneak peek and short presentation of the Mate 8, a 6-inch display high-end device which uses Huawei’s inhouse HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset in a Cortex A53 octa-core CPU.
The Mate 8 uses dual Nano-SIMs and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow layered over by the Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.0.
The G-Power is available for pre-order exclusively from JUMIA here and will most likely go on sale starting today. You can view photos from the Roundtable as well as detailed specifications of both devices below. You can pre-order the device from Jumia here.
