This year, Tecno’s got not one but two devices in its flagship Phantom range – the Tecno Phantom 6 and the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus. But that’s not all that is new with Tecno this year, the devices go beyond being just flagship devices, to being the signature devices for Tecno’s international push, as they are the first devices that Tecno is launching and selling outside West Africa.
The two devices which were unveiled to the world at the Burj Khalifa towers on the 25th of September, 2016 ship with other firsts in their bag. For instance, both devices are the first Tecnos to ship with the new USB Type-C charging ports.
The Tecno Phantom 6 features a 5.5-inch, full HD (1920 x 1080p) AMOLED display, beneath which you’ll find an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0Ghz, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and a 2700mAh battery. You’ll also find an 8-megapixel, wide-angle camera in front and a 13-megapixel auto focus and 5-megapixel dual camera system at the back.
On the other hand, the Tecno Phantom 6 plus also features a full HD (1920 x 1080p) AMOLED display, but at 6-inches, it offers a lot more screen real estate. Inside you’ll also find that almost everything is bumped up as well compared to the Phantom 6. The Phantom 6 Plus features a deca-core processor clocked at 2.0Ghz, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and a 4050mAh. In the camera department, you’ll find an 8-megapixel wide angle camera in front and a 21-megapixel camera capable of shooting 4K video at the back.
Both devices ship with android marshmallow.
“In Africa, Tecno is spearheading certain technological advancements in the mobile space and this is based on our understanding of emerging markets dynamics. With the launch of the new Phantom series, we hope to use our market insights to penetrate the international markets ,” said Tomo Liu, Deputy Marketing Director at TECNO Mobile, while speaking at the Phantom 6 media pre-launch event.
“As part of Tecno’s growth strategy into new markets, we have plans under way to entering Southeast Asian and South American markets in the near future,” said Vane Ni.
