InterC, formerly Intercellular, Nigeria’s first private telecom operator (PTO) in the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) sub-sector, which recently relaunched as a 4G LTE internet service provider has introduced a new “unlimited” Internet plan which is the best one we’ve come across in the history of unlimited plans in Nigeria.
The new plan, according to documents made available to Techsuplex, offers unlimited Internet with uncapped speeds till the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 250GB kicks in, after which, the speed starts being throttled, though it’s unclear by how much as InterC doesn’t state.
At the cost of N19,000, the new InterC unlimited plan seems deliberately positioned to compete with Smile’s own Unlimited Premium Plan which, costs N19,800.
The difference in value between both propositions though are staggering. InterC’s speed is uncapped till you reach the FUP limit of 250GB; Smile’s version starts with the speed capped at 4Mbps and has it’s fair usage cap at 100GB after which the plan is slowed down to 512Kbps, which is pretty much too slow for anything useful.
So in essence, InterC is faster and offers 150% more data for N800 less. It’s however worth noting that InterC is only currently available in Kaduna, Abuja and Port Harcourt, while Smile currently has a more expansive network with a lot more cities covered.
I personally will be trying their unlimited plan out, and if it’s anywhere as good as their regular plans are, they’ll have a new customer in me.
Other networks, your move.
P.S: It’s supercool that they listen.
@interC_Network you guys need to have an unlimited plan. As soon as you have one, I’ll start using you more frequently.
