If you’re a BlackBerry 10 user, it’s been a long wait since the last update, and with the last three BlackBerry devices running on android OS, many were not holding their breath for a BlackBerry OS update. That’s is why in the past few hours, many BlackBerry users have been surpirsed, but happy to see a new, major update available for them to download.
At the moment, there aren’t many details as to what’s new, however it’s likely that BlackBerry has implemented its newly acquired the NIAP certification (which shouldn’t mean much to you except you are an enterprise user) and there are some noticeable updates to the browser including a new anti-phishing system and a download status indicator. There are also new NFC toggles in the system menu, The ART bug that prevented Android apps from fully uninstalling has been sorted, and the OS runs a lot faster and smoother, pointing to performance enhancements under the hood.
On the passport, the OS update sits around 1.6GB so you might want to checj how much internet you have left before proceeding.
If you do get the update, let us know how if you find anything.
