Mark Zuckerberg’s home AI is…”goals”

Last night, Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg made public his own personal AI assistant to help run his home. The assistant, called Jarvis (after Iron Man’s own assistant from the comics and movies) lets Zuck and his wife, Priscilla to turn lights on and off, play music based on their tastes, open the front gate for friends and family, make toast, and even wake up their one-year-old daughter Max with Mandarin lessons via a custom voice activated app or messenger bot.

If that’s not cool, going by the videos he’s posted, the voice of Jarvis is non-other than that of Morgan Freeman which again, is one of the coolest voices in Hollywood if you ask me (in fact, whether you ask me or not, how many people get to be the “voice of God”…ever?)

I personally am a sucker for home automation, and in fact, while I obviously don’t have my own AI in place, I’ve actually got a few party tricks across my house, so to see Mark so effortlessly do this is as they say…”goals!”

Mark first announced that he was taking up the project via Facebook in January as his goal for the year. (Every year he sets a goal to achieve that is not related to his daily running of Facebook. Some of the popular ones include writing code everyday in 2012, and learning mandarin last year and running 365 miles this year; along with building Jarvis). Jarvis was built using Facebook tools, such as their in-house face and voice recognition software.

Really can’t wait till there’s affordable tech out there that will help my own setup get to this point, here are the two videos Zuckerberg shared to announce the project. If you are an automation head, or just a fan like me, let us know what you think about Jarvis.

...half genius, half unserious.
