Affordable Access Initiative
Microsoft opens applications for its Affordable Access Initiative; a fund designed to assist companies trying to bring Internet Access to underserved markets. It invests in cloud-based services and applications and business models that can reduce the cost of internet access.
Helping more people affordably get online, the inaugural edition saw applications from businesses with solutions in power generation, health, agricultural grants, finance and education.
“Too many people around the world lack internet connectivity and the educational, commercial and economic benefits of cloud-based services,” said Mary Snapp, Corporate Vice President and Head of Microsoft Philanthropies.
For this year’s edition, commercial organizations with two(or more) full time employees, a working prototype and paying customers are the most preferred applicants.
