Lagos will play host to the Women Techmakers Global Event Series 2017 which also celebrates the International Women’s Day.
The Women Techmaker is an initiative that started in 2012 as a once-per-year event by the then VP of Google, Megan Smith and now headed by Head of Global Programs, Natalie Villalobos. It aims to showcase the work and passions of women in the technology industry by providing a platform to celebrate their talents and spotlight role models.
For about three years the Women Techmaker has convened 200 global events in 52 countries to encourage the visibility, involvement and resources for women in technology in honor of the International Women’s Day.
The various summits will be held between March and April 2017 and will be hosed by women techmakers at Google offices. Asides the summits, local Google Developer Groups would have meetups to enable those who are unable to make the summits connect. Cities like Katsina, Enugu, Kaduna, Benin and Kwara are already set to have meetups.
