MOBicure and four more startups have made it through to the finals of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN’s) Digital Pitch Competition, having been selected for what is to take place in March, 2017.
In January, we reported the opening of applications for entrepreneurs to submit their pitch videos for an opportunity to qualify and, if selected, have the audience of potential investors to aid the scaling of their startups. The application also involved some form of voting with Ghea Live from South Africa, In Stea Ltd from Mauritius, East African TechSpace from Kenya, and Attitutde from Mozambique joining MOBicure from Nigeria.
MOBicure’s flagship product – Omoni – is a mobile and web solution to some of the most pressing challenges surrounding healthcare provision in developing countries in Africa. It focuses on aiding pregnant women and/or mothers with children 5 and below with monitoring and the provision of medical information or services.
Ghea is “South Africa’s all-in-one solution for your private security company”. Their product allows companies to have easy access to features that improve Live Monitoring, Administration and Scheduling, Real-time alerts and intelligent reports.
There isn’t as much information on the other startups, but they will be represented by their founders. They are Mawande Mpungose (Ghea Live), Karen Yvon (In Stea Ltd), Samuel Kirpono (East African TechSpace), Marlene De Souza (Attitutde) and Immanuel Charles Akhimien (MOBicure) for their respective companies.
These entrepreneurs get the opportunity to pitch, between the dates of March 13th to March 16th, to fellow entrepreneurs, potential investors and members of the Global Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Johannesburg. Here is wishing all startups the best outing and hoping they leverage on the community and create the right networks that will help them grow.
