As summer approaches, ccHub’s Summer Code School draws nearer. The code school which is held every summer period is a fun, interactive 4-week programme introducing kids aged between 5 and 18 years to computer science and programming. The programme teaches kids new skills and tools, improves their problem solving abilities and gives them new ways of expressing their digital creativity.
Learning during the code school is project based, as students are taught how to design computer games and animations using Scratch, design web pages using HTML/CSS and build computer applications using Python. Kids also develop their soft skills in the following areas: collaboration, presentation, communication, time management and project management.
There are different classes, for each age bracket and with a specially crafted curriculum kids will be able to make connections between technology and their interests.
The Summer Code School is run by Re:learn, an open living lab birth out of CcHub with focus on helping schools use technology in a smarter way to enhance learning. Relearn is presently supported by Google, Raspberry pi, Oracle and MacArthur Foundation.
