PyCon, the largest gathering for the community that uses and develops the open-source Python programming language is going to have their maiden PyCon Nigeria event this month.
This is the first year of PyCon Nigeria where the community will meet for two days of talks and collaboration on projects in two days of learning, collaboration, and development sprint. This year, the event is scheduled to take place from Friday, 15th September to Saturday, 16th September, 2017.
This conference will follow in the customary fashion for users and enthusiasts of the Python to convene for a featured-packed series of events where so much about the language is often showcased.
The Conference is organised by members of the Python Users Nigeria Group, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to advancing and promoting the use of Python programming language in the country.
PyCon NG is a non-commercial event run entirely by volunteers dedicated to growing the Python developer community in Nigeria. Sponsor contributions help keep the costs of attending the conference affordable for intending participants. Profits are invested back into Nigerian Python and open source communities through the parent organisation, Python Software Community. Since inception in 2016, it has supported about 30 Django Girls events and several other Python events/programs in Nigeria, including PyData and Pyladies. In furtherance of her mission, she has done so in partnering with other organizations like the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative for the Smart Girls project and the Data Science Society of Nigeria for the Data Science Bootcamp.
